Dr. Vinson Eugene Allen is a physician, humanitarian, small business owner, and community advocate with over two decades of transformative service across California. Now running for State Assembly, Dr. Allen is bringing his lifelong commitment to justice, compassion, and practical solutions to Sacramento—ready to fight for working families, support small businesses, protect our neighborhoods, and make essential services accessible and affordable for all.
Raised in the Mississippi Delta by his grandmother—the granddaughter of enslaved Americans—Dr. Allen’s early life was shaped by hardship, resilience, and the power of community. That legacy has guided his journey from a top-performing student to a physician, educator, and entrepreneur. After earning degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and Education, he graduated with honors from medical school and trained in emergency medicine at Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in Los Angeles—where he witnessed firsthand the painful consequences of systemic inequality.
Determined to make a difference, Dr. Allen founded Dusk to Dawn Urgent Care, becoming the first African American to build a statewide urgent care chain in California. Today, with 10 centers in underserved communities, his clinics provide compassionate, high-quality care—regardless of background or income. As a small business owner who has created hundreds of jobs and navigated California’s complex economic landscape, Dr. Allen deeply understands the challenges that entrepreneurs face. He knows that small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and in the State Assembly, he will champion policies that foster innovation, reduce barriers, and help local businesses thrive.
His leadership goes far beyond healthcare. Dr. Allen has spent decades working directly in the community—delivering food, housing support, and medical services to those in need. Through the Saint Vinson Eugene Allen Foundation, he continues to fund scholarships, support families living with disabilities, provide monthly aid to unhoused residents, and invest in the next generation. During the COVID-19 crisis, he mobilized volunteers and resources to feed thousands and offer free testing to uninsured individuals—demonstrating how leadership rooted in compassion can save lives.

As your Assemblymember, Dr. Allen will bring that same energy and empathy to the pressing issues facing California: expanding access to affordable, quality healthcare, addressing the housing affordability crisis, creating good-paying jobs, strengthening small businesses, and ensuring safe, inclusive communities. He believes that healthcare is a human right, housing is a moral responsibility, and public safety must be built on trust, prevention, and opportunity.
Dr. Allen’s work has been recognized across California, with honors from cities like Compton, Paramount, and San Gabriel, and national awards including the NAACP Humanitarian Award, Ebony Magazine’s Doctor of the Year, and the Key to the City of Compton. But beyond accolades, it is the lives he’s changed—and the communities he’s uplifted—that define his legacy.
Dr. Vinson Eugene Allen is not running for office to build a political career—he’s running to build a better California. As a doctor, a father, a business owner, and a servant of the people, he knows what’s at stake. With compassion as his compass and community as his cause, he’s ready to fight for a state where every family has a fair shot at health, opportunity, and dignity.
Hi, I’m Dr. Vinson Eugene Allen, and I’m running for State Assembly because I believe in putting our community first—because to me, the community is family. For over 20 years, I’ve served California—creating jobs, supporting families, and working to lift up those who need it most.
The truth is, working families are struggling. It’s harder than ever to afford housing, healthcare, and the basics. I’m running to make sure that California works for everyone, not just the wealthy few. I’ll fight to make housing affordable, ensure good jobs are within reach, and create safer communities where families can thrive.
As a father and a community doctor and leader, I know what’s at stake. I’m committed to bringing leadership to Sacramento that puts people first, delivers real results, and gives every family the opportunity to live with dignity and security.
